В этом и проблема. Я хочу заходить в архивы по вводу. Но я не хочу заходить по вводу в вордовские файлы как в архивы - это вообще ни разу в жизни не понадобилось. И бесит - я же привык жать ввод на доковских файлах :) Как вариант решения - сделать опцию "определять архивные файлы только по расширению".

Очень удобно, но оно и не пострадает. Блок подразумевает нажатие шифт, соответственно вертикальный блок это будет шифт + альт.

Ничем, оно даже хорошо. Но требует переносить руку и потом нажимать отдельную клавишу. Временное переключение на вертикальный блок при нажатии альт (при уже зажатом шифт) только усилит эту фичу и сделает ее еще удобнее. Такой функционал есть во многих программистских редакторах, то есть это еще и дополнительная совместимость с привычками пользователей.

Я с одной стороны очень впечатлен, как много фич добавили за последний год разработки NDN - whatsnew.txt прямо ломится от строк :) И наконец-то исправили проблему с 2Gb!
С другой стороны, очень не хватает давно назревших фич, без которых NDN просто не соответствует текущему моменту и вместо него приходится использовать другой софт (Notepad++ в частности).
А именно:
* Работа с текстовыми файлами в кодировках UTF-8 и UCS2, а в идеале еще и UTF-16 и UTF-32.
* Перенос слов в редакторе (word wrap) без добавление CRLF.
* Вертикальный блок через клавишу alt (как в Notepad или Visual Studio).
* Дубликация действий, если выбран вертикальный блок (хотя бы сдвиг).
* Не заходить в автоупакованные файлы (типа *.docx) как в архивы.
Я очень понимаю, что это все ну очень тяжелые фичи, так как они затрагивают базовые моменты хранения и обработки текста (ну, кроме последней фичи). Но лучше сделать одну такую фичу, чем десяток мелких, имхо.

Ну да. Мне казалось что так и должно быть. Проще настроить размер консоли в ярлыке, чем перебирать Shift/Alt-F10 - мне в итоге ни один вариант не подошел, пришлось вернуться на легаси консоль.
Ну а проблема этой консоли в том, что она включается для всех текстовых приложений сразу. Поэтому либо нормальная консоль, либо NDN :(

Можно ли запустить NDN без legacy mode в консоли?
Я пробовал и со старым (5309) и с новым, экран постоянно разъезжается, полосы прокрутки то появляются то исчезают, заданные размеры экрана или игнорируются, или "данное разрешение не поддерживается". При этом у FAR все четко - выставляешь любой размер экрана и он таким и будет, без полос прокрутки.
И еще вопрос - теперь на русской раскладке не работают горячие клавиши. Я смотрю тут русские разработчики - неужели этого не заметили?

Hi Basil & Dan (thanks for helping out),Sorry I didn't answer so long - had 2 large personal troubles...
A) Real LINUX terminalsNDN only really works like DOS/WINDOWS in a real LINUX terminal, and only when starting it with "sudo ndn ...".
With "real" terminal I mean the text window you see after pressing ALT+CTRL+1-6.
Yes, NDN works in this terminal, even without sudo. However I didn't used pure full-screen textmode for more than 10 years :)
B) X-Window terminalsI have quite some problems with these terminals (emulators to be exact).
Please see the bottom of the NDN online help "Supported Operating Systems" for
a detailed list. I will soon try again to get all this fixed, but it's a mess (no, not the NDN code).
Keys and mouse ONLY work here because I access the X-Window system, if I can...
In this case, when I run application called "Terminal", arrows don't work, even with sudo. However MC (MidnightCommander) understands arrows well, so their keypress events are passed to application somehow.
What of the above "terminal types" are you using?Are all 4 arrows not working?
What about PgUp/PgDn?
I use build-in Ubuntu's application "Terminal", which is X-terminal in my opinion. About says that is "Terminal emulator for GNOME 2.26.0".
All 4 don't work, as well as PgUp/PgDn and Home/End.
C) Terminal emulators like Putty or without X-Window or without sudoHere NDN only can access what the Linux kernel sends over the standard
communication pipes.
I tried to access NDN on Ubuntu from another PC using PuTTY - and all keys works perfectly! So the problem is that
NDN can't read movement keys from build-in Ubuntu terminal.
(Does NDN work with UTF-8 now? - I have some troubles with russian chars on Ubuntu)

The cause is probably the terminal setting. Try setting it in your terminal emulator to 'Xterm' or 'Linux' and see which works better. Does pressing the arrows output some sequence of odd characters like "~18;]" ?I run NDN on Ubuntu itself, without remote access - just in Ubuntu terminal window. It has no emulator settings (like Putty and others have).
I also tryed MC there and it works perfectly, at least arrows work. I got no odd chars like "~18" as well :)
P.S. Was tryed to reveal MP3-tag code page - it was nightmare since no one ubuntu's editor opened mp3-file, and MC knows nothing about coding. I had to copy file to my computer with Windows and test codepage there by using NDN. :(

Hi again, I tryed NDN on Ubuntu (9.04) directly and reveal strange thing:
Arrows don't work at all! :(
Enter works, mouse works(!) but arrows are not.
Why this happens and how to resolve it?

ZOC can remap the keyboard completely, which may help.I tryed Zoc but it works even worse - it only shows file under cursor, not a panel, with all settings I used.
Do you have NDN working via Zoc? Do you have shift+arrows and ctrl+PgUp working with Zoc?
(could you please provide Zoc ??? in that case)

Now I see that NDN jumps between files which starts from pressed char - very good step to the feature requested ;)

I access NDN/Linux from Windows XP via smal program called Putty. It works, but lots of keys don't work. At least:
- every key with Shift
- fast search by single Alt
- Ctrl-PgUp/Dn (screen jumps like scrolling, if I disable Putty's scrolling it doesn't jump but keys still don't work)
Since I never run NDN on pure Linux (without remove access), I don't know is it NDN's problem or I just have bad Putty settings.
So please can you tell how to setup Putty properly?
P.S. NDN 2.31.2699, Linux Fedora 8, PuTTY 0.60.

I didn't watch NDN for a long time;
But now I see at least that configuration options have changed greatly. And disks refresh is very useful, I have to restart NDN every time I plug in my USB-phone - I'll test it today evening at home.
NDN is going right way indeed.

Really, it's very annoying to search an item in a large history; a search (like in file panel by Alt) will be quite useful!

Hm... what do you mean by 'new version'?
I use 8193 now, is it the newest one?
This version normally access FTP where FAR shows red box "parsing error is ftp data" and refused to work with it. But NDN cannot copy whole directories so it can't be applied yet. However if I need to access single file from this FTP, I use NDN, certainly. :)

P.S. A nice situation: on the FTP I try to use FAR is crashed(!), and NDN didn't copy folders. The solution is batch file with Windows ftp.exe program. :)

It`s bug. If "Options.Configuration.System setup.advanced options.Don`t use LFN" option is checked NDN shows keycodes in file manager.Yes, it's right.
But... how did you reveal that "Don't use LFT" affects keycodes?! :)

Hi!
I changed my 50xx version to 8058 version. And my NDN now shows keycode dialog box for any key pressed in filemanager. "Show Keycodes" option is off! Keycodes are shown in filemanager only, not in menu or editor. Ndn.dsk has been deleted.
How can it be solved?!

At least columns on FTP panel works fine, I was pleased when I just restart NDN with new version and got wide panels as I use for hard disks, thank you.
FTP panel still has no confirmation when downloading file by F5. I guess this is not good because the uploading _has_ that confirmation, so there is the difference in key pressing when you copy file from different (FTP or disk) panels.

I often use NDN to create/modify some notes or small text, this is very useful because NDN has the list (history) of files I work with. In the most files I need strings longer than single screen line, so they must be wrapped to make string visible without scrolling. Certainly NDN does so, but it adds a CRLF after every line it wraps. So I have to use Notepad or MS Word after edititing to delete these additinal returns.
The wish is the following:
Make NDN wrap lines without adding any carriage return, as in Notepad with option "Word Wrap" enabled.
Wrap position should be the right edge of NDN-window in this case.
P.S. I do understand its quite difficult but it's annoyng to use Notepad after NDN editing (or constantly scroll long strings in NDN).
