  1. Hi!

this of course would make it nice to edit, but since

turbo vision handles these options like we save them and whole NDN is built around this i don't feel there is a big need to change something that works very well :)

rewriting the ini-engine is really the last thing i want to do, so many other things to do....

    thanks for ideas anyway

  2. Hi!

Alt-Test version should be in the downloads section of the homepage! i released it to test my ALTGR/ALT-RTL-patch

the mnu bug has been fixed some weeks ago ;)

    (just after i released 5055 :P)

seems like i must release a new one these days :)

  3. Hi everyone!

thanks for all your bug reports

i want you to know that i read them all and that i will try to work on them as soon as possible

but at the moment i have very little time and development is slow :(

keep your bug reports coming, i will add them to my (big) list :)

  4. Hi!

    1. oh, working on it :)

    2. good idea, ill try to support it in other code

    3. Alt-G only counts the dir(s) you have selected

CTRL- G automatically counts all subdirs

    4. this works in the new version :)

    5.ill handle that

    thanks, yes it does :)

  5. Hi everyone!

i received a nice highlight file from Garl. (thank you)

but id like to have a few more!!!

i will merge all of the received highlight files!!!

so please, send me more :)

(doesn't matter how BIG the file is, if you have a complete good highlight for one file type please send it)

    Stefan/AH

  6. Hi!

Can someone of you create/send me a good/complete highlight file

that i can include with future NDN releases?

it should at least contain all widely known programming languages

(html, asm, pas, c, c++, bas, java, js...)

    and all other useful filetypes

  7. hi Nick!

i released the ALT-test version so everyone could

test the keyboard for bugs (especially with ne alt behaviour of course)

i received no bug reports about it, so i thought everything is allright :/

    :P

    i didn't add anything regarding drag+drop

    saving open files:

i just tried again, and this definetely works in W98/2K

    what exactly are you doing?!

highlight last result in backw. search:

cannot reproduce it (i fixed some bug with higlighting last result in backward search in 5055)

i have never touched any regexp code :P

i will have to do it all at once sometime

    thanks

    Stefan/AH

  8. Hi!

first of all, PLEASE read my ah_news.txt file, which has the changes at the beginning and my TODO list at the end of the file!

before you post/send bugreports check with it to see if it is maybe already in it, so i dont have to go through every buglist in detail everytime because it takes up a lot of time and i dont have much at the moment :(

dont know about the hotkeys in russian KBD, i asked for testing in the ALT-TEST version, but got not negative replies!

smart dos box close only for D32 at the moment

renaming with moving descriptions works for me

pressing stop button works for me

drag and drop into file window: never tried, will have to at home

hex line problem is in todo list

cant save edited files fixed in 5055

backward search higlight fixed in 5055

  9. Hi!

we face a few problems here:

    1) i don't have OS2 on my PC (at the moment....) - what version do you suggest?

    2) NDN (and 90% of all other existing file managers) is written in Pascal language, which is perfect

for this because of speed, turbo vision library and lots of existing code

NDN is compiled with VIRTUAL PASCAL which is a cross platform compiler, able to create

    Linux,DPMI,Win32 and OS2 executables

    3) i fear that none of the stuff you mentioned will work (EAs, 2GB for sure not); a quick look at the LFN

sources tell me that there is also no OS2-specific code in it; assuming that i have to add the same amount

of os2-specific code as for Win32 alread exists i doubt that a working OS2 release can be achieved very

    soon

my main target is a working LINUX version, which also needs a lot of work, although i have very limited

time right now, so LNX has to be delayed too

therefore i cannot promise anything regarding an OS2 release

    4) thanks, i will remember it when i need to :)

    thanks for your posts

    Stefan/AH

  10. hi!

good, so its not my fault :)

maybe i wont be able to release an OS2 port with the next release :(

it may require quite some time to get it to work, but because i want

to release a new version this weekend i might not be able to release

a quality D32/W32/LNX package together with a completely new port

    i will try :)

  11. Hello Robert!

you must have a screen setup of 80x25 like the DOS/WINDOWS standard

i have to fix this issue, but at the moment i dont have the time for it.

later NDN will set the screenmode on linux like it does in DOS/WIN

btw, even if you get this version to start correctly,

it will be hard to use, because it has some serious problems

i will release a new version this weekend which will work much better

in linux, so you can actually work with it like in DOS/WIN

(there are a lot of problems, but it works....)

just try the current linux version in 80x25, and compare it to the next

    release and you will see...

    :)

  12. Hi!

    This is interesting:

did previous MS-DOS DPMI32 versions of NDN

(especially starting with 2.13/14) run in the OS2 dosbox?

the D32 version uses W9x LFN APIs for file stuff

    maybe thats the problem

additionally, i have never compiled/tested a OS2 port of the current version, if there are more people who would like to use NDN in OS2 i can try to compile and upload a OS2 port of the next release too?!

    Stefan/AH
