if cursor is not in block when scope is "selected text" origin (entire scope/from cursor) is used.

i use "autodetect scope option" and default search is set to from cursor when i do search without block.

this may be annoying: you select a block (cursor after it`s end) - Ctrl-F7 - scope is auto set to "selected text"(thanks) - you type strings - enter... - nothing was found???(but you see many entries in block!) :(

imho it seems atypical to search in block from cursor position...

Maybe origin should be always ignored when scopr is "selected text":

(make 3-position radio button: Block,Entire scope,From cursor)?..

Or if "autodetect scope" is set, set origin to "entire scope" when block is selected?..

Does anyone use "selected block" and "from cursor" combination?

What is opinion of users?

2-nd suggestion: format of ftp.ini isn`t similar to ini file at all. Rename it to ndn.ftp?..

Hey GP!

#1 - i will wait for more user suggestions, it will be no problem to ignore scope setting if searching in block

#2 - no, i don't aggree :)

please, more opinions by other users!

It is original DN behavior.

>Maybe origin should be always ignored when scopr is "selected text":

No, It will cause loss of functionality

>(make 3-position radio button: Block,Entire scope,From cursor)?..

No, It will cause loss of functionality and will be very unusually.

>Or if "autodetect scope" is set, set origin to "entire scope" when block is selected?..

This will be good!

But if anyone always use "selected block" and "from cursor" combination

(with [X] Autoscope detect) - it will be very annoying to him(her)

8-)

Hey, users! Anybody use "selected block" and "from cursor" combination

with [X] Autoscope detect option ?

I do not use.

>No, It will cause loss of functionality

Really, i was wrong - today i imagine quite rare but possible situation where it can be used

Also i want to notice, that if persistent block mode is off i see no obvious way to put cursor inside block -

it is always at it`s end or beginning.

If cursor is not inside block the "selected block" and "from cursor" combination is 100% useless.

So the question is:

Does anybody use "selected block" and "from cursor" combination more often than

"selected block" and "entire scope"

with [X] Autoscope detect and [X] Persistent block?

hi *

i have this suggestion:

when you have autoscope detect on and START the search inside a block,

NDN will ignore the possible setting of from cursor, it will always start from the

beginning of the block

note: ONLY when you START the search, repeating or backward search will ignore this

would this satisfy your needs?

HI all,

0. thanks for revealing me the "autodetect scope" option. there are plenty of options I don't know of ;)

1. I vote for this modifed option: If "autodetect scope" is set, set origin to "entire scope" when block is selected and only when cursor is OUT of block!

this would satisfy potential users (do they even exist?) which needs to use "AutoScope=ON"+"selected block"+"from cursor" combination. If they need to search From Cursor they logically need to go with cursor into block somewhere.

2. AH: Persistant blocks Off - why this option even exists? I NEVER used it. someone please explain me the real usage of this option.

Someone, who searches in Block and From Cursor , he can't have Persistant block set OFF !! . so, we don't need to consider Persistant blocks in this issue. or am I mistaken?

3. AH, no don't ignore, let the option be there and working, because someone will start complaing in the future ;)

hi haman!

0. that still happens even to me sometimes

1. at the moment i am not sure what to do, i will leave the current code as it is

2. I use it! i NEVER use persistent blocks.

and search inside block works VERY WELL with non-persistent blocks

you can search backwards, and you can move the cursor to the top of the block before

so, there are plenty of possibilities

3. yes, you are right :)
